Hey family – God didn’t create us to sit on the couch. He called us to WORK, and to work hard. Here’s what His Word says in plain, straight-up English:
1. Work was part of life BEFORE sin ever showed up.
Genesis 2:15 – “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”
Work isn’t a curse – it’s part of God’s original perfect design. Even in paradise, Adam had a job!
After sin entered, God made it official:
Exodus 20:9 – “Six days you shall labor and do all your work.”
Six days work, one day rest. That’s God’s rhythm.
2. God blesses honest, HARD work.
Proverbs 14:23 – “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.”
Notice it says HARD work.
As a coach, I’ve said “hard work” a million times – because easy work doesn’t move the needle. When we pour ourselves out and get exhausted for the right reasons, God promises profit – spiritually, financially, relationally.
3. God hates laziness (He actually warns us big time).
Proverbs 6:9-11 – “How long will you lie there, you sluggard? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest — and poverty will come on you like a thief.”
Proverbs 10:4-5 – “Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth. He who sleeps during harvest is a disgrace.”
As God’s kids, laziness doesn’t fit our identity. When we’re unproductive, we’re not living the best version of ourselves. Being a child of God comes with an obligation: get after it!
4. Our work is supposed to bring glory to Jesus.
Colossians 3:17 – “Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
At your job, in your business, coaching, cleaning cabins, school – whatever it is – don’t be the person your boss has to babysit or “manage.”
Be the absolute gold standard employee or owner. Be the person everyone points to and says, “That’s what excellence looks like.” That’s how we represent Jesus in the marketplace.
5. Your hard work is NEVER wasted when it’s done for the Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:58 – “Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
And the verse that coaches and hustlers everywhere need tattooed on their heart:
Colossians 3:23-24 – “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters… It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
Bottom line:
Because of WHOSE we are, we work differently.
We work harder.
We work smarter.
We work with joy and excellence.
We don’t cut corners.
We don’t clock-watch.
We don’t do just enough to get by.
We work like Jesus is our boss… because He actually is.
So today – go be the hardest worker in the room.
Not for applause. Not for a raise (though that’s nice).
But because you’re a child of God, and that’s what His children do.
Let’s get it! 🔥
