February 1st | God's Unfailing Love and Faithfulness

A barefoot man clings to a cliffside, reaching for a giant hand amid glowing rays and watercolor hearts, evoking hope and connection.
God's love is not earned; it is who He is. No matter where you are—struggling with sin, feeling unsteady, or simply needing reassurance—call on Him. He is slow to anger, quick to forgive, and abounding in love that never fails.

Despite human unfaithfulness, slipping feet, or sins deserving judgment, God is repeatedly described as:

- Forgiving and good,

- Abounding in love to those who call on Him,

- Compassionate and gracious,

- Slow to anger,

- Not treating us as our sins deserve,

- Supportive and upholding us when we slip,

- Enduring forever in love and faithfulness across generations.

This portrays a God whose character is defined by "merciful, covenant-keeping love" that persists eternally, offering restoration, support, and grace rather than deserved wrath.

(a prayer) Dear Lord,

In a world where promises fade and people often fail, Your character stands unchanging. Psalm 86:5 reminds us, "You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you." You welcome us not because we deserve it, but because Your heart overflows with compassion.

Psalm 86:15 declares, "But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness." You do not rush to anger or repay us according to our shortcomings (Psalm 103:8-10). Instead, Your patience gives us space to turn back to You.

Psalm 89:2 proclaims, "I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself." This love is not fragile or temporary—it is anchored in the heavens, enduring through every season of our lives.

When we feel ourselves slipping, as in Psalm 94:18, "When I said, 'My foot is slipping,' your unfailing love, Lord, supported me," You are there to catch us, steady us, and lift us up with Your strong, supportive hand.

And Psalm 100:5 seals it: "For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations." What comfort this brings—to know that generations before us and those after us will experience the same enduring goodness.

Today, rest in this truth:
