January 28th | Our Body – Fearfully Made & Called to Be His

Elderly man crafting a wooden humanoid figure in a workshop. Tools and wood shavings on the table; warm, cluttered setting.
God knows your body better than you do.

He crafted it. He designed it.

We’ve talked about our mind and our heart.

Today let’s look at something very personal and very real…

our body — and how it connects to who we are in Christ.

1. God Himself Fashioned You

Your body is not an accident.

It is the intentional, artistic work of God.

> Genesis 2:7

“Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.”

> Psalm 139:13–14, 15

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made… My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place…”

Bottom line:

God knows your body better than you do.

He crafted it. He designed it.

You are not a mistake. You are fearfully and wonderfully made.

2. We Are Called to Control & Honor Our Body

Our bodies belong to the Lord — therefore we are to manage them with purpose.

> 1 Thessalonians 4:3–5

“It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable…”

> James 3:2

“Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep the whole body in check.”

Our tongue, our eyes, our hands, our habits — all of it matters.

3. Your Mindset Literally Affects Your Body

What you believe and how you think has physical consequences.

> Proverbs 3:7–8

“Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil.

This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.”

Peace with God + right thinking → often brings physical strength and healing.

4. We Are Called to Train & Offer Our Bodies

Paul didn’t shy away from strong language:

> 1 Corinthians 9:27

“I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified…”

And then this beautiful, breathtaking invitation:

> Romans 12:1

“Therefore… in view of God’s mercy, offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God — this is your true and proper worship.**”

Quick Heart Check Questions

- Do I treat my body like it belongs to God… or like it belongs only to me?

- Am I training my body — or letting it train me?

Lord, thank You that You made me — body, soul, and spirit.

Help me to honor You with this body You gave me.

Give me strength to control it, wisdom to care for it,

and courage to offer it back to You as a living sacrifice.

In Jesus’ name… amen.
